Moss in the Media

What an honor to be featured in Mother Earth News magazine's October 2022 issue.  I remember when this magazine was born and first published in nearby Hendersonville, NC. It’s a dream come true for me. Special THANKS to Tom Oder for his excellent wordsmith skills. My life as a mosser continues to be really good. – Mossin’ Annie

Mossin’ Annie: How Does Moss Grow? Rescuing one of the plant world’s most obscure groups drives the spirit of a Southern Appalachian folk hero.

From The Transylvania Times to The New York Times, Mountain Moss has been in the news lately. And, that's not all… our moss business was featured in an Associated Press article and distributed to media all around the country. The Wild Ones Journal (Fall 2016) featured Mossin' Annie's "Rhodobryum in the Snow" photo on the front cover and two moss gardening articles.

After years of hard work in all my mossin' endeavors, this media coverage has been exciting and very much appreciated. Promoting advantages of mosses is key in our educational outreach.

While it might seem that national media would rank over local news, I have to admit that the support and interest of The Transylvania Times, our bi-weekly newspaper in Brevard fondly called the T-Times, means the most to me. It has taken a village to help me grow my business and follow my dreams. It has been the encouragement of my friends, supporters and business advisors in my community, which has kept me going… continuing to move forward to achieve goals and mossy dreams.

In addition to traditional media, Mountain Moss has a presence in social media. Become part of Mossin’ Annie’s international moss village on the Facebook group, Go Green With Moss. You can follow @MossinAnnie on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest.

With our new option for Q & A on Qutee -- Ask Mossin Annie, DIY moss gardeners will find answers to FAQs and even better, you’ll be able to search particular topics (i.e., Weed control, watering, choosing species, etc.) We encourage you to join in discussions and share your own successes and challenges.

With a background in broadcast television (mainly behind the scenes), Mossin’ Annie has her own YouTube channel. We hope you will LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to Mossin’ Annie’s YouTube Channel. To tempt you into visiting YouTube, here’s a taste of what you might find. The hammered dulcimer music by Jerry Read Smith reflects my mountain roots and joyful spirit in my moss gardens. Enjoy!
