Ceratodon purpureus
Ceratodon purpureus sports bright red/purple sporophytes that add incredible delights of color against the bright, velvety, deep green of the leaves. A tiny moss, it may be necessary to use a loupe for identification when not in sporophytic stage. It thrives on hillsides or in the cracks of stone patios in the direct sun.
